1. Komikon 2015; November 14-15, 2015
So, you all already know that Komikon is happening this weekend, but for those of you who don't, now you do! (God, that was terrible) After so many roadblocks and mishaps, and one big ass bulk of a misprint (side note: if anyone knows foundations that accept paper for recycling, please hit me up! I've got 100 copies comics worth of paper to donate huhu)), we've finally been able to release Love in the Dog Pound, Part 2 – and at the last minute. Anyway, for those of you who want a (signed) copy, please do drop by tomorrow at Bayanihan Center from 11am-7pm! For those of you who can't go but do want a copy of Part 2 (or Part 1 and 2), you can order a copy of the books here :)
2. My St. Luke's Story Book Launch, November 26, 2015
The book is my first big project post graduation (and is actually what got me some of my big ass gigs now – more on that when I'm allowed to disclose information). While working on it, I learned so much about people, about managing projects (on the publishing aspect), and about how hard I can push myself to work, especially when I want to do something well, or especially when I believe in what I'm doing.
Meeting the people we featured in this book, getting to interview them, and put together a collection of stories about their experiences at St. Luke's Medical Center was both heartwarming and inspiring. I'm happy this was my first baby post-grad, and I can't wait til everyone finally gets to see our work.
Unfortunately, since the book hasn't been launched, I can't post a photo to tease it yet, but I definitely will once I can!
3. Woman, Create: Planner Launch; November 28, 2015
At the time, I had just written #5 of a series of poems I was doing, and Che and her officemates had just submitted artwork to Ayala Musuem's #InspireEveryday. She asked me to send her one of my poems, and she created art for it/inspired by it.
When Rika messaged me to contribute, I immediately thought okay, #5 is probably the most recent poem I've written that I can be proud of – although, taken without context, might not make sense. I sent it anyway, and a couple of days ago, I received news that it made it :)
The beautiful planner will be officially launched this coming November 28 at Heima Brixton. You can pre-order the planner by clicking the save the date photo below :)
4. Spectrum Collabs' Next Project, Soon.
I don't want to pre-empt anything, but Spectrum Collabs is cooking up something special for the Holidays. Currently co-PMing (PM: Project Manager) this with Mica, working with some of the craziest of talents from all over the artsy spectrum (HAHA) (including one of my favorite ex-work friends, Nine Avenido (who I just collaborated with for my recent article for The Fat Kid Inside!), and so I'm extremely excited to be able to finally get to share it with you. Won't divulge any details yet but to your right is cryptic photo to get things started.
Stay tuned. ;)
On a somewhat related note, I got some sad news this morning but after texting my cousin about it, he replied something along the lines of, it's okay – you've got lots of other things going on anyway. And he's right. I have barely spent any time at home this month alone. Barely had a complete 7-8 hours of sleep. Have not spent any time with Hutch at all (YES, A PROBLEM). Was on the verge of a breakdown before my shoot yesterday because of my extremely high stress levels, but I am barrelling through, and I will continue to do so.
Finally (and slowly) figuring out what I love to do, here's me trying to work my ass off for it.
